We actually have a plan for this weekend, which involves visiting the balloon festival at Chateau d'Oex. It's the other end of the lake from the city, and there are two events described as a "Mass Ascension" one at 10.30am and another at 11.00am. Then later in the morning the novelty balloons start their ascent!
I have to say I am quite looking forward to it. What the girls will make of it I'm not sure.
It's nearly a two hour drive, and I guess I'll have to allow time for getting lost and trying to park, that seems very likely, but as there are three times at which the balloons go up I reckon we will get to see something.
There are actually lift offs on Saturday and Sunday this weekend, the time table on Sunday is the same as Saturday, has ballooning thought carefully about how it can be compatible with children?
I remember the last balloon festival I went to was the one in Bristol, but as that was more than 10 years ago when I was a student, I couldn't say I actually "remember" much about it.
We will see how it goes, try and take some photos and perhaps have something interesting to say on the festival in a couple of days time.
