The little one got a trip out to a Gymboree play and music class with the nanny yesterday. All reports state she had a wild time. Of course she also happened to be the only one there without her mummy. So I'm kind of glad I didn't go, otherwise I'd have been the only Dad! My life, what scandal in a city like Geneva for a father to attend a play group with his children, and during the daytime!
I jest because I am extremely jealous; they played parachute games. She loved it. They did climbing, she loved that too. All the other children were a little shy, a little bit quiet, and held back slightly. The little one just jumped right in. I hesitate to suggest this is a full reflection of her character, because when I leave the flat in the mornings she often shouts and yells until she can be distracted, and I can hear her in the foyer of the building.
Yesterday was a free taster. The sessions are typically around 30 CHF, if you block book, which feels a bit steep, but apparently it is very well run. The fee also allows her to go to free-play sessions, which are put on at different times of the week. So hopefully she and the nanny should get a bit of additional use from the place. It also happens to be open on Sundays until the end of March between 2.30 and 5.30 in the afternoon. Something to do with kids on a Sunday afternoon in Geneva, amazing! Though of course it ends in March. You can't have too much of a good thing. Perhaps this should be the city's motto.
It is a pretty easy place to get too, being just around the corner from the terminus of the 3 bus line in Grand Saconnex, which for us in 1203 means it's less than 20 minutes away.
Other reports came back that the little one liked hanging out with other children, if that's the outcome, and it makes her smile then we are clearly onto a good thing, and so it would seem are Gymboree, they have hundreds of franchises in more than 40 countries around the world!
