Bad weather, bad, bad weather and the musical sub-genre Post-Britpop

This morning we woke to rain, after a wonderful few weeks of Spring weather, the city has rediscovered its grey dome. Bad news all around. The big one declared she didnt want to go outside today because of the rain; but she got no choice. Tuesdays is Ludo, and when she was reminded of that the rain issue was speedily forgotten.

But they can't stay out all day, and eventually they come home for lunch, which is cue for Daddy to leave, or otherwise just upset the little one who will think it's the end of the day and time to play with Daddy and I'll have no chance of getting some work done. Typically my departure is preceded by a few minutes hiding in the bedroom whilst the girls come in get their coats off and go in the kitchen for lunch. Today was no exception.
Now though I am sat in Cafe Boreal, a less crowded, nicer non-chain version of Starbucks, watching the people pass in the street with their brollies up or their necks tucked to stop the rain dripping down their collar. Listening to The Charlatans' "The Only One I Know", which I can't have heard in over a decade. A very odd connection, but a kind of phonic seal of assurance that the cafe is at least slightly more normal than the rest of Genevoise life.
"Hush", by Kula Shaker is now on, showing taste can't always be guaranteed! Searching for the band on Wikipedia I have discovered that apparently the music I listened to in my late teens can be genericised as "Post-Britpop". An interesting concept that doesn't warrant explanation, only mockery. I just thought I'd mention it.
