We had grandparents to visit just after Christmas, and Grandparents mean just one thing, the chance to get out the house for a bit of time just to the two of us. So we decided to go for a pizza at Luigia's in Eaux-Vives. This place was completely new to me, and on first impressions I wasn't expecting a great deal. As I headed towards the door I was dazzled by the white twinkly lights crowding around the entrance. Pushing through the door into the restaurant itself, and the bling and glare are no less inside.
But what is noticeable is the full tables. Clearly this place has a lot to recommend it to a lot of people. I felt reassured, despite the crowds, and the fact that we hadn't booked a table, we were seated immediately and politely.
We ordered two pizza's and some sea food antipasti, a glass of wine and some water. Sadly, our antipasti never arrived, though we weren't charged for it, nothing was ever mentioned. The pizza however was very good, I had a spicy salami pizza whilst Sarah opted for a classic ham and mushroom. Both were excellent and the reason for the restaurant's popularity was immediately clear. It makes a refreshing change to eat dinner and be able to see it.
Whilst the venue has its quirks, the food was excellent, for dessert we ordered a chocolate fondant and a tiramisu, both of which we each enjoyed thoroughly. The chocolate fondant took time to arrive, an indication that it was cooked properly, ie. on short order. We will return, and will likely take the children with us, I would highly recommend it as a fun, tasty place to go out for a meal, all at a reasonable price.
